There are three grades
of Membership:
Full Membership is open to
producers and distributors of essential oils and plant extracts and to producers of plant
material for the production of essential oils or plant extracts.
Full members have voting rights.
Associate Membership (Institute
or Individual) is open to consultants, non-commercial institutes, researchers and
non-commercial other
parties. Such members receive all information, attend meetings but
have no voting rights.
Honorary Membership is open
to former members who have contributed significantly to the development of the
Australian essential oil industry and have retired from active involvement
with the industry. Membership is by invitation only.
Honorary Members receive all information, attend meetings but have no voting
rights.
The present Fee Structure
is:
| Full Membership: | $1000 p.a. |
| Associate Membership (Institute/Individual) | $150 p.a. |
| Honorary Membership: | free of charge |
The Association produces
at irregular intervals a Newsletter which is available to members only.
The function of the Newsletter is to provide members with information on:

new regulatory requirements
by Australian, and where known, overseas regulatory authorities (such as
TGA, NICNAS, Pharmacopoeias etc.).

international as well as Australian
essential oil standards.
-
future trade related related
conferences and scientific essential oil symposia.
-
trade news in general.
-
topics discussed at recent trade
conferences as well as on the content of essential oil related scientific
lectures and any other relevant matters.
-
recently published essential
oil related articles and scientific papers.
-
the availability of financial
grants from providers of funds such as RIRDC (Rural Industries Research
& Development Corporation) etc.

extracts presently produced on a commercial scale:

Eucalyptus oil (1,8-cineole
type) (from Eucalyptus polybractea, E. radiata, etc)

Tea tree oil (from Melaleuca
alternifolia, M. linariifolia and M. dissitiflora)

Western Australian sandalwood
oil (from Santalum spicatum)
-
Lemon myrtle oil (from Backhousia citriodora)
-
Lemon-scented tea tree oil (from Leptospermum petersonii)
-
Lavender oil (from Lavandula angustifolia)
-
Peppermint oil (from Mentha piperita)
-
Bitter fennel oil (from Foeniculum vulgare)
-
Parsley oil (from Petroselinum crispum)
-
Boronia absolute (Boronia megastigma)

Orange oil
-
Lemon oil
Several additional essential
oils, both from Australian natives as well as from introduced plant species,
are being produced on a pilot scale.
