The EOPAA Symposium and AGM was held at the Southern Cross University (SCU) Gold Coast campus on Wednesday 7th November 2018.
The day consisted of presentations from 4 guest speakers in the morning session and the AGM in the afternoon session.
Talks were provided by:
- Dr. Mervyn Shepherd, SCU – “Tea tree breeding program 2: building on the foundation”.
- Dr. Ian Southwell, SCU – “Aromas Down Under: Australian Essential Oils” and highlights the sources, location, chemistry and uses of some lesser known native essential oils.
- Dr. Peter Duggan,CSIRO – “Commercial Botanical Extracts Research at CSIRO”
- Mr. Ashley Dowell, SCU – ISO TC54 Outcomes relevant to the Australians Essential Oils Industry.
The AGM commenced with addresses by Secretary Ashley Dowell and President Dee-Ann Prather. The actions and discussions from the 2017 AGM were reviewed and matters arising WEREconsidered. The agenda discussions were about an Agrifutures research grant submission to gain funds for research into emerging industries, the development of an EOPAA database for Australian Native oils, allocation of EOPAA funds to small research projects and consideration of a review of the EOPAA constitution.
