The essential oil of Eremophila mitchellii is produced by distillation of the heartwood of the Eremophila mitchellii. The plant species is known by several common names including Desert Rosewood, False Sandalwood, Sandalbox, and Badha/Buddha. The origin of the last common name is uncertain; however, the Atlas of Living Australia attributes the name to both Gamilaraay and Yuwaalaraay indigenous names for the plant.

These standards have been developed with funding from AgriFutures Australia under project PRJ-011798 Developing Industry Standards for Australian Native Oils
