A range of full and partial funding grants are currently available to women who work in the horticulture sector to support their participation in a leadership development program.

Scholarships of $4,103 – $10,941 available
The fee support opportunity provides a scholarship of up to $10,941 for women to take part in one of three part-time practical courses.

In 2020 the funding is available to women working in both levy and non-levy paying horticultural organisations, including growers, wholesalers, distributors and research and development bodies.
Participants will network with women peers from a variety of industries, and cover such topics as Emotional Intelligence and Conflict, Career and Professional Growth, Team Dynamics, Leading Innovation and Change, and Empowering Teams.

The initiative
The grants have been allocated as part of a joint funding arrangement between Women & Leadership Australia and Hort Innovation. This year’s funding pool of $210,289 is the fourth of a five year development project and demonstrates the commitment of both parties in bringing about gender equity within Australia’s horticulture industry.

It is also important to note that the accessibility of the courses has also dramatically improved because participants can now choose fully online program delivery (this was in response to the situation with COVID-19 as well as making the courses more accessible to women working in rural and remote parts of Australia) and as a result of this the participation fees have also been reduced. Check out the project page for more info.
